What the fit profile is
The fit profile at /app/profile is where you describe your organization's work to RFPfit. It is a shared team setting — any active member can edit it, and the same profile applies to every member of your organization.
Profile fields
- Capabilities / services — the strongest signal. Use the words a buyer would put in a notice (for example: "video production, graphic design, translation"). Comma-separated.
- Sectors / industries — the industries you serve (for example: "healthcare, education, arts"). Comma-separated.
- Preferred regions / provinces — province names or two-letter codes. Leave blank to treat every region as in scope.
- Certifications / eligibility — optional. A notice that mentions one of these terms gets a boost in your fit signal.
- Disqualifiers — optional. Opportunities mentioning these terms are flagged with a warning and ranked down, but never hidden. You always make the final call.
Fit labels
RFPfit describes fit in plain categories, not numeric scores:
- Strong fit — the notice aligns well with your stated profile
- Possible fit — partial alignment; worth a closer look
- Weak fit — limited match; check before investing time
- Not a fit — little or no alignment with your profile
These labels appear on notice pages and in your What's new feed. A notice with a disqualifier match always shows a warning alongside its label so you can verify the term isn't incidental.
Who sees fit signals
Fit signals on the Notices page (/app/notices) are part of RFPfit Pro ($29 CAD/month, founding rate — see /support/free-vs-pro). Organizations on the free plan do not see fit labels on the Notices page.
The fit profile page itself is free to set up and save at any time — and it also grounds Proposal Studio drafts, so a complete profile makes both surfaces better.
How triage shapes fit
Your triage decisions on the shortlist feed back into scoring. When your team marks a notice Pursuing, it registers as a positive signal for the source, category, buyer, and region of that notice. Not a fit and Dismissed register as negative signals.
RFPfit adds a rationale line when a triage pattern is clear enough to count, such as: "Shortlist signal: your team pursued 4 and passed on 1 opportunities from this buyer — counts in its favour." Saved and Maybe are neutral — they do not move the signal.
The adjustment is bounded, transparent, and grounded in your own triage history — it explains itself rather than silently shifting results.
