Where the data comes from

Every notice in RFPfit's catalog comes from an official open-data source published by a government or grant-making authority. The current sources and their licences are listed on /sources — that page is live and shows the current open count from each source.

RFPfit only adds a source after it passes a compliance review: it must publish under a permissive open-data licence, provide an official access method, and allow the access rate RFPfit uses. RFPfit does not scrape sources whose terms do not permit it.

Attribution

Every notice carries the attribution and licence required by its source. The required attribution text is shown on every notice page and on the Sources page. If you redistribute data from RFPfit, you are responsible for preserving that attribution.

RFPfit is an independent service and is not affiliated with or endorsed by any of the procurement authorities or grant funders it covers.

How current is the catalog?

Freshness works at two levels:

  • Source refresh cadence — each source publishes updates on its own schedule. CanadaBuys is the fastest, refreshing roughly every two hours. Other sources refresh on their own cadence. RFPfit ingests each source as it updates.
  • Catalog page cache — the catalog pages are revalidated at most every five minutes. This means a listing may be up to five minutes behind the most recent ingest, but the underlying data reflects the latest ingest.

The Last updated date on each notice shows when that notice's content last actually changed — not when it was last checked. A notice that has been open and unchanged for weeks correctly shows an older date. See Understanding Notice Pages for more on what this means.

Status accuracy

A notice's status (open, closed, cancelled) reflects what the source reports. When a source marks a notice closed or cancelled, RFPfit reflects that at the next ingest. If you see a notice that looks open on RFPfit but closed on the source portal, the source updated between RFPfit ingests — check the official portal directly for the current status. The official portal is always authoritative.

Procurement vs. grant sources

The Sources page groups sources by type — procurement sources (CanadaBuys, SEAO, the City of Toronto, and Yukon Bids & Tenders) and grant funders. You can filter the catalog by type using the Procurement / Grants / All segmented control at /opportunities.
